Maintenance history

 

The building started being used as a B&B (currently Alojamento Local) in 1993 and has been well maintained over the years. During the last 21 years there have also been various improvements and substancial modifications to the house.

 

- Electric heating dates from 2004

 

- Windows have been replaced with aluminium (rear side)

 

- Bathrooms were created and improved (last in 2012)

 

- In the kitchen materials were replaced with Inox

 

In 2010 an ambitious and huge remodelation occured under the direction of the Coimbra Townhall (Camara municipal de Coimbra, gabinete centro histórico). This Praud project was part of a bigger plan to rehabilitate the whole of the historical centrum to become eligible for the World Heritage Unesco (accepted 22 June 2013)

 

In Casa Pombal this meant:

  • new roof and insulation and guttering

  • new electrical installation

  • New wooden double windows and shutters on the streetside

  • lowered (isolated) ceilings in guestrooms

  • fire alarm and fire escapes

  • recovery and painting of front and rear facade

  • flat roof on bathroom which was later turned into a terrace

Total costs 72.000 euro

  • kitchen (10,75 m2) in inox (with excess to cellar)

Groundfloor

  • 3 guestrooms with washbasin, (resp. 10,4 – 10,6 and 10,55 m2) 1 common bathroom (remodeled 2012)

  • lavandry

  • extra toilet on the stairs

 

1st Floor

  • 2 bedrooms with 1 common bathroom (9,7 – 9,70 m2)

  • 1 bedroom with private shower and toilet (13 m2)

  • small terrace (9 m2)

  • extra toilet on the stairs

 

2nd Floor

  • 3 bedrooms with private bathrooms (7,5 – 8,7 – 9,5 m2)

 

TOTAL

  • 5 guestrooms with 2 shared bathrooms

  • 2 extra toilets on the stairs, one in the basement

  • 4 guestrooms with private bathrooms

 

  • 1 office

  • 1 common room

  • 1 kitchen

  • 1 patio

  • 1 small terrace with view
